miles from Iroko
Bunratty Castle was built in 1425 by the MacNamaras and then
passed to the O'Briens who were Earl of Thomond. The Castle
is furnished with mainly 15th and 16th century furnishings.
At night-time, the Castle plays host to medieval banquets which
are held year-round subject to demand, these are extremely popular
so, in high season, early booking is advised. Let us know and
we can book on your behalf.
Bunratty folk park takes the visitor back to rural and urban
life in 19th century Ireland. The folkpark contains farmhouses,
watermills, a blacksmiths forge and a church. It also contains
a village street with pub, post office, school, drapery shop,
village hotel, hardware shop and doctor's house. Visitors can
for example view farmhouses of various economic backgrounds,
a watermill, church and village street.
