Craggaunowen

Craggaunowen is a prehistoric park featuring a recreation of homesteads and artefacts dating back to Ireland's pre-historic and early Christian eras. It is located on 50 acres and the main attractions include:

A ring fort which is typical of the home of Celtic Farmers in the Iron Age. A Crannog which is a constructed lake island dwelling similar to that of Bronze Age Chieftains. A Togher which is a roadway dating back to the Iron Age. Rare animals The Brendan Boat which is the boat built and sailed by Tim Severin from Ireland to the United States r-enacting the voyage of St Brendan the navigator. A Dolmen which is one of the earliest Stone Age tombs. The Souterrain which are underground passages mainly used as food storage areas. They were also used as a hiding place during attacks on the Ring fort. .
